Jake FeuerhelmGERALD "JAKE" FEUERHELM

Attorney Gerald "Jake" Feuerhelm has been practicing criminal defense law in the Central Iowa area for twenty five years.  He has represented clients in cases ranging from traffic violations to murder in the first degree.  Mr. Feuerhelm grew up in Lansing, Iowa.  He received his undergraduate degree in political science at Loras College in Dubuque in 1975 and his law degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1979.  After serving as a student intern in the Jasper County Attorney's office while a third year law student, he went on to become the Assistant Jasper County Attorney from 1979 through 1981.

Mr. Feuerhelm then join the law firm of Matthias, Tyler, Nuzum and Feuerhelm in Newton, Iowa and practice there until 1984. From 1985 until 2006, he maintained a sole practitioner office in Des Moines, Iowa.

He is currently admitted to the practice of law state of Iowa, as well as the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa. He is a member of the Iowa Association of Criminal Defense lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association, the Polk County and Iowa State Bar Associations.

Mr.Feuerhelm's representation of his clients is based on knowledge of the law, experience in the courtroom, treating his clients with honesty and respect and a thorough understanding of his client's case so that the best possible outcome is obtained.

Mr.Feuerhelm also practices in the area of personal injury law. He represents those individuals who have been injured as a result of someone else's negligence. Individuals injured in car, truck, boating, recreational vehicles and motorcycles have benefitted from his services which has a goal of maximizing the recovery for the client while allowing the client to avoid the complicated and confusing effort in dealing with insurance companies, hospitals and doctors. His fees in such cases are based on a contingency which means that the client pays no attorney fees unless there is a successful outcome of his or her case. He is also available to assist individuals injured in unique situations such as being the victim of a dog attack, injured in a work accident or injured when falling due to improper maintenance of property or a property owner allowing a dangerous condition to exist without warning.
